Home Remedies for Stretch Marks

Recently, I did some research to find some home remedies for stretch marks.

Below are 9 tips. I can’t vouch for them but some are fairly well known

Tip 1

I know I have said this before, but exercise is very important in order to get rid of stretch marks; toning the muscles helps to keep the skin firm and thus prevents stretch marks.

Tip 2

Make sure your diet contains plenty of protein and foods rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin C. These foods promote good tissue growth and reduces the visibility of stretch marks.

Tip 3

Massaging the body with Vitamin E or olive oil may also be very helpful.

Tip 4

A homemade recipe, by mixing an ounce of carrier oil (try sweet almond, avocado, jojoba, are the best) with five drops of chamomile and seven drops of lavender oil. This recipe will keep the skin supple, soft, healthy and free from any stretch marks.

Tip 5

Cocoa butter can be topically applied on the stretch marks. This will improve the skin texture and are very good for stretch marks.

Tip 6

Another very good recipe for stretch marks is given below:
1/4 cup aloe Vera gel.
1/2 cup virgin olive oil.
4 capsules of Vitamin A.
6 capsules of Vitamin E.

Blend all the ingredients and transfer it to a jar and refrigerate. Application of this oil externally all over the areas of stretch marks every day may reduce them and prevent further stretch mark formation on the body.

Tip 7

Another best homemade remedy for stretch marks can be prepared, by mixing  half cup cocoa butter with one part each of vitamin E oil, apricot kernel oil and wheat germ oil together with two teaspoons of grated beeswax.

Tip 8

Scrubs can be used to remove the surface dead cells and thereby lighten the stretch marks in the body. Natural scrubs made of oats and apricot scrubs are very helpful for this purpose.

Tip 9

Changing diet can potentially lighten stretch marks on the skin. Eating a good healthy food is a very good preventive measure against stretch marks, as it controls weight loss and weight gain and thus prevents stretch marks. A diet that is rich in protein and low in carbohydrate should be consumed to reduce the visibility of stretch marks. A protein rich diet that is rich in both vitamins E and C, helps to repair skin tissues, thus, not only reduces the chances of getting stretch marks but also helps to repair them.

Foods that are rich in zinc are also great for health as well as skin. Zinc is found in plenty in nuts and fish. Other food stuffs that are considered beneficial in the treatment of stretch marks include carrots, milk and citrus fruits that are rich in vitamins C, A and D. Finally, keeping the skin hydrated is also beneficial. Therefore, drinking plenty of water and other liquids can be helpful to treat stretch marks or to avoid getting them. Foods that are rich in silica also help to keep the skin become more elastic. Also, caffeine and alcohol are known to have a negative effect on the skin elasticity, which should be avoided.
